When Susanna Curtis joined C.O.G. in summer 2014, she brought with her the idea of covering this tune - specifically the brilliant 'Shiny Toy Guns' version, which I hadn't heard before. I liked it, but thought we could do better; they took all the guitars out of the piece! After figuring the chords out, we got the tune ready for live performance and started recording. The two guitars divvied up the bulk of the song, with Joe doing the more distorted parts and Chris handling the clean parts. Billy contributed some nice pad synth sounds with his Juno. I made the bass more interesting by copying it and providing an additional bass part with distortion, filtering and delay. The video above comes from the first (and I believe only) time we got to perform this one, at Southport Hall in Jefferson, LA.
